Knoydart Garden and Craft Open Day. Saturday 4th September 2010.

From 12 noon at the Garden, polytunnel, tents and in the Lodge. FREE ENTRY!

Competitions! Open to all.... medals, certificates and prizes... Judges: Vegetables: Sam Gardener Produce/ Craft: TBC  Children’s: Jim Manthorpe; Aaran Watson & Sam Gardener. Any number of entries per person per class is allowed. Children are welcome to enter any of the classes.

Classes Vegetables

1.                  Biggest courgette

2.                  Funniest vegetable display 3 items

3.                  Three potatoes, any colour

4.                  Selection of any four vegetables, nicely displayed

5.                  Half a dozen tomatoes, any type, combinations

6.                  â€œBest plot” Knoydart Community Plotholders only

7.                  Jar of compost

8.                  Flower arrangement on a seaside theme

Classes Produce / Craft

9.                  Blackcurrant Jam

10.              Fruit Jelly any variety

11.              A fruit cake any shape

12.              Anything made with courgettes

13.              Four scones any kind

14.              Three eggs from your own hens

15.              Something made from recycled fabric

16.              Make your own apron any style or purpose

17.              A scarecrow 1.5 metres or less

Classes Children 12 and under only

18             Plant in an unusual container (plant must be something you have grown yourself)

19             Photo of your garden (printed out)

20             Selection of three fruits or vegetables you have grown yourself, nicely displayed

21             Insect made from recycled materials (see below) 

22             A picture/painting on a garden theme  

Entries need to be on site by 11.30 for judging.

With many examples of local crafts to include: quilt making, wood turned items, pottery, jewellery, knitting, sewing, cards and much more for demonstration, “have a go”, exhibition and sale...  Lots of fresh vegetables, plants, preserves, homebaking etc for sale on the day.

Children’s Craft Corner 

Build an Insect  at home, with recycled materials and/or on the day with the bits and bobs provided (it can be a real insect or just something you have made up) If

Scavenger hunt for children and the young at heart starts 1.30pm

Tea, coffee, cakes, homemade ice cream... from Knoydart Pottery Tea Room

BBQ Starts 1pm

Raffle for an amazing cake and lots of other prizes...
