Knoydart is famous for its rugged hills and glens. Some people like to just head off into the wilderness and do their own thing. You may prefer to take advantage of the purpose made mountain-bike tracks, or hire the Ranger Service for an informative guided walk. Check out some of the options below.

  • Scheduled walks and land rover tours: every Tuesday at 11.30, our Ranger heads out on foot or by Landrover for a 2.5 hour tour. The timetable changes every week. Costs or £5 - £15 for adults, and kids go free (or £7.50 if a Landrover is involved). Book ahead by contacting the ranger. We have several one- off walks and activities on other days (See Ranger 2017 timetable)
  • Private walks and Tours: If the sceduled walks and tours don't suit, why not book Ranger Amie privately, who can customise walks and tours to suit your needs. See the timetable page for more information.
  • Mindfulness Walks: If you don't fancy an informative guided walk, why not try a sensory one instead? Mindfulness walks help people to relax and focus, whilst undertaking low level exercise. Walks are held once a month on  Monday mornings. See the Ranger Service timetable for more information.
  • Knoydart Carbon Cycle Hire: Why not hire a mountain bike in order to explore further afield? See the Ranger Service for more information (Based at the Foundation Shop).
  • Family Fun Sessions: Offering a variety of outdoor focussed activities for young people to enjoy with their families. See the Ranger Timetable for more information.
  • Deer Stalking: help us achieve our conservation aims by partaking in a day's stalking. We run our stalking operation in a traditional manner, with stalking ponies used to carry carcasses off the hill. We also sell the resulting venison locally.
  • Mountain Biking: Hire a bike from Knoydart Carbon Cycle, and have a great time exploring our tracks and paths. Knoydart Forest Trust have created a great Red route in the forest, with a smaller Blue skills loop.
  • Boat trips: scroll down to the middle of the Visit Knoydart page, and you'll come across a list of boat owners. All of them, as well as running between Mallaig and Inverie, go elsewhere. Between them, they offer everything from a lazy afternoon's sea-fishing, to a trip to the small isles, Skye or Kinlochhourn, to a cetacean-spotting afternoon with dolphins and whales (if you're lucky). Ring each operator up for a quote.
