There are two countryside rangers on Knoydart.

Jim Manthorpe has a background in environmental science, travel writing and photography. He has written a number of guidebooks on trekking at home and abroad for Trailblazer Publications, including Scottish Highlands – The Hillwalking Guide. Tommy McManmon is a keen walker who has lived on Knoydart for several years and knows the area well. Along with the ranger post he is also involved with the fire brigade, Royal Mail and the local mountain rescue team.
