Knoydart Foundation Ranger Service

Activities

Wild Knoydart. Hire the rangers to take you on an photographic expedition you'll never forget, take part in team-building activities, or simply join the stalkers for a traditional day on the hill as part of our deer management programme.

Guided walks. There are a number of ranger-led guided walks; from two hour wildlife rambles in the woods to all-day hikes in the hills. The schedule for guided walks is reproduced below.

Nature trails. There are a variety of trails in Inverie woods, behind the village. These walks take you through a mix of broadleaf and coniferous woodland, home to a variety of woodland birds and mammals. We have produced self-guiding walks leaflets which can be purchased for £1. Discover some of the hidden gems to be found only minutes from Inverie village, or explore further afield in the woods or along the coast.

Mountain bike trails. There are plans to develop a series of mountain bike trails in Inverie woods behind the village. The Knoydart Forest Trust have already opened a short "skills loop", situated in the woods above the pier.

Wildlife. If you are interested in getting closer to Knoydart’s wildlife, such as badgers, pine martens, wildcats, otters and red deer, the rangers can help. There are a number of wildlife hides from where you have more chance of seeing some of these native species. Also, see our Projects section for a list of recently spotted wildlife in the area.

Conservation volunteer days. Rhododendron clearing, beach cleaning, footpath restoration - if you would like to get involved with these or any other conservation activities please get in touch with the rangers.
